Bob is an award-winning Texas songwriter who over the years has appeared at many cowboy poetry gatherings throughout the west, including the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, NV. Twenty-five western artists and groups have recorded Bob's songs, including Red Steagall, Chris LeDoux, and Buck Ramsey. In 2023, Andy Hedges recorded "Roll On, Cowboys" with Brenn Hill as the title song for his double CD and vinyl album of duets.

Bob grew up helping his dad raise cattle on old family land in Northeast Texas during a time when cowboy movies were king on both the big screen and television. Another huge influence in Bob's life was his grandmother on his dad's side. Born in 1878, she was a great storyteller and natural musician who grew up on the edge of the Oklahoma Indian Territory.

Bob has recorded one cassette album, Roll On Cowboys, and one CD, The Golden West. He has also recorded one children's cassette album, Bob Campbell and Kids Too!.
