Jerry Brooks is a westerner by choice. Originally from the northeast, she's made her way steadily west and south.

After 40 years in the mountains of southern Utah — on foot, horseback, and literally in the mountains as an underground miner — she is currently camped in Arizona.

Her love of the spoken word came with her, and drew her into the company of some of the finest folks she's known, gathering and celebrating cowboy and hard lives well lived.

She is known for her recitations of classical and modern cowboy poetry.

You can hear Jerry interviewed by Andy Hedges on Episode 31 of Cowboy Crossroads. She recites a poem by Charles Badger Clark at 38:19.
